We connect prisoners and their families to digital learning, to improve their lives for the better.

Rebooted is a charity that gives prisoners and their children the devices, training and support they need to learn.

A shared learning experience helps families reconnect. In the longer term, it unlocks new opportunities and breaks the cycle of reoffending.

Rebooting lives.

Everyone should feel valued in society. For the families of prisoners, this is not always the case.

57% of prisoners have a reading age of 11 and below. We help to support prisoners who have engaged in learning while in prison by providing a laptop and educational materials upon release, which supports their rehabilitation.

In addition, 190,000 children currently have a parent in prison. They have lower rates of health and educational attainment and are likely to be facing economic, social, and digital poverty.

It is time to help these families reboot their lives.

Device Donation & Recycling.

We collect, cleanse, and rebox donated Windows 10 laptops, installing secure ChromeOS for safe use. Devices are distributed to eligible ex-offenders and families, enabling:

  • Online education (Open University, vocational training, job applications)
  • Family reconnection
  • Community reintegration

Digital Learning & Support.

Our laptops come with educational content and guides to help users build digital skills and confidence. We work with prison support staff and children's charities to identify the right beneficiaries and provide ongoing support.

Helping us

The solution is here, we just need your help to make sure it reaches those families that need it the most. You may have devices you need to dispose of or recycle. Or you may know a person in prison or a family who are facing digital poverty.

We are looking for like-minded partners to join us on our mission. Here are 3 ways you can help:

Donate licenses

Each laptop we receive will need to be data cleansed to industry standards (ADISA) and will be loaded with a Google ChromeOS licence. We need your help to cover the cost of this process to ready a device to meet its new owner, so they can get connected and supported. Please help us to cover the cost by donating as little as £20.

Laptops

We need more laptop donations to support offenders due for release, who have been studying with the Open University and also gaining vocational qualifications. A refurbished device will allow them to continue their learning. We also have children who have a parent in prison who need a laptop to help with their studies and who are at risk of being digitally excluded.

If you are a business and planning to upgrade your IT hardware, we would love to hear from you.

Content

We want to make sure we continually improve our platform and the content we offer. We would love to partner with any content providers who may be able to either provide access to content modules or work with us on licensing their content for our platform.
